The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict by Trenton Lee Stewart is a prequel to the Mysterious Benedict Society. It is an amazing story, and I recommend it to all kids who like mystery and adventure. A young boy named Nicholas Benedict goes on an expedition to solve a mystery, and he finds out that the director of the orphanage where he’s staying will stop at nothing until he finds the treasure. It becomes a race to treasure. This book will be the one you will stay up until midnight to read. It has a awesome twist that will make your jaw drop! Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

Atlantia by Ally Condie was the most amazing book I have ever read. Rio is a young girl who lives in an underwater city where her mother and father died and her twin sister Bay left to live above on the land with no explanation! What type of sister leaves their twin with no explanation? Rio’s main problems were that, Bay left in a way that seemed willingly, but the evil minister Navio used his powerful voice to forcefully encourage her to go above. Rio tries multiple times go above to see her sister again, but can’t due to the Atlantian Council. Her second problem was that she is struggling with whether or not to trust her Aunt Marie who supposedly killed her mother. If you are the type of person who likes the characters always overcoming problems, adventure, and a small bit of romance, this book is without a doubt for you.

Dead Girls Don’t Lie by Jennifer Shaw Wolf is an amazing book if you like suspenseful books that have an unexpected twist. Although I could guess the ending, I would still read it over and over again. I only could guess it because I watch and read mystery shows and books, so I learned a lot of tricks the author pulls. I loved this book because it kept me guessing. As I read more and more, I could guess what was going to happen, but I kept questioning after I read, “…,but I knew Rachel died before three. One hour after Skyler kissed me for the first time. Thirty-Five minutes after she sent me her last text” (2). Jaycee thought it was all her fault that Rachel died. What's going to happen to Jaycee? Will she be okay? If you like mysteries, you will love this book. If you don’t watch mysteries everyday, you’ll never guess the ending. I recommend you check out this book.
This book reminded me of the Pretty Little Liars books by Sara Shepard that is now a weekly show on Freeform.
Brandon Sauer is an outstanding student who has a unique sense of humor. He is a Math Olympian and KIDS kid, who enjoys a challenge.
Jennifer A Nielson's The False Prince was very interesting. I could relate to the character and the ending was shocking. The main character is clever, defiant, and persuasive. The ending was shocking because "Sage" ended up being someone you wouldn't expect he would be, and I did not see that coming until the author began slightly hinting at it. If you like Jennifer A. Nielson's Mark of the Thief, then you will most likely be attracted The False Prince, book one in the Ascendance Trilogy.
Anna Exford is an avid reader and writer. Recently, Anna won the Greater Thousand Islands Literacy Council 2017 Writing Contest. In the fall, she was the 2nd place winner in the Patriot's Pen Writing Contest at the local level. We expect great things from Anna.
Be Light Like a Bird started with a description of a dead bird Wren found, causing me to wonder why she was looking at it. I had to keep reading! New, interesting characters showed up, even in chapter 30 of the 45 chapters. Readers, especially middle schoolers, will relate and be compassionate toward them. For instance, both Wren and Theo lost a parent and have to deal with bullies. The conflicts are plausible, but it is a different problem from anything I’ve ever read before. Have you ever read a story about a bird-loving girl and a geeky boy on a quest to save a pond? If you enjoy an easy read with a roller coaster-ride of emotions, then you should read this book.
Stacie Hernandez is an outstanding student who enjoys reading. She has an impressive work ethic that foreshadows her future success.
Kyle Finds Her Wayby Susie Salom is a really amazing book. If you like suspenseful drama, this is your type of book. This book was not a book for me though, but only because I prefer mysteries. The thing that kept me reading was finding out if Kyle solves her many problems she gets tangled into. Two main problems were between her mom and Sherro. Kyle’s mother forbids her from doing NAVS, her favorite club, like the Odyssey of the Mind. Kyle learns that keeping secrets does not end well -- especially keeping secrets from her best friend. If you liked the Dork Diaries series then you will love this book. Check out this book from the library or buy it from Scholastic.
